PolyCola started in 2005 as GahooYoogle and changed its name to PolyCola in 2007 after legal problems with the old offer. This comparison search was developed by Arbel Hakopian from Norway. Originally Google and Yahoo were searched at the same time and their result pages were presented side by side. Today, the user can choose between Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Ask.com, Dogpile and AOL and have two pages presented site by site. PolyCola is often classified as a meta search engine. In this collection it is a special form of multisearch a parallel search. The user can choose between different search engines (Multi), the results are searched simultaneously (parallel), but the results are not merged into a uniform result output and re-evaluated with their own criteria (Meta).

Arbel Hakopian: »It all started with GahooYoogle.com in 2005, when I put up a website that searched Google and Yahoo at the same time. The welcome to that website was incredibly warm from the Internet community and it still keeps going on hot. It was chosen as HotSite by USAToday, was talked about in BBC radio, had entries in FOX news and many more places in media and websites and weblogs... GahooYoogle.com had problems with Law and Lawyers and now it's shut down and transferred to Yahoo! by the order of the court after some years of being up, also, I decided to expand the idea and now here your are with PolyCola, that has the same concept of GahooYoogle, but you can choose which search engines to search! PolyCola cuts out the time and hassle involved in searching some search engines at the same time. According to various online statistics, people of the world in different countries such as the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Arabic Countries, Indians, Persians, Dutch people, Spanish people, and many other different spoken language countries, use more than one search engine to search about their desired subjects. PolyCola cuts out this hassle. « Source

Wikipedia: »When it was first known to the public, it was discussed in BBC radio, was chosen at HotSite by USA Today and managed to have entries in Fox News Channel. However, the site was shut down due to legal problems. GahooYoogle.com had a legal problem, so after the shut down, the site was moved to Yahoo! with the order made by the court after being an issue for couple of years. After the shut down, the creator, Arbel Hakopian, decided to expand his original idea of GahooYoogle.com and came up with the idea of PolyCola.com ...« Source

Bharathi Priya (2017):»Asgeir S. Nilsen of Norway wrote a “dual search engine” as an April Fools Day prank in 2005, which had become quite popular because people have found that it’s actually useful. With his search engine YaGoohoo!gle you can get side-by-side search results from Google and Yahoo!, with Google on the left and Yahoo! on the right.« Source
