Conduit is a search interface that uses the Bing search engine. Besides the web search Conduit offers a picture and video search. The news search is only a link to Bing News. The site only offers its own start page and no results page. All requests are directly linked to Bing. Conduit received negative criticism as a virus due to an aggressive marketing strategy (self-installation without the user's consent).

Critical points

Rouse, Margaret (2014) »Conduit is a browser hijacker that is usually installed without the user’s knowledge through a drive-by download.

The malware, which is frequently bundled with freeware and shareware, presents as a browser toolbar and search engine. Once installed, Conduit changes the user’s default browser home page and search engine and redirects URLs and Web searches. Conduit includes adware and spyware, and has rootkit capabilities that make it very difficult for people without advanced tech skills to remove it.« Source
