AOL offered very early services for mobile devices. While the 2001 started “AOL Anywhere” concentrate on mobile services for E-mail or massaging, the mobile search started in 2006 with an engine especially for WAP sites. Since 2007, after a re-launch of the mobile search, AOL offers special search for Windows and Non-Windows devices. Today there are solutions for other devices too. Today in the app times AOL offers already a browser based mobile site an app I not jet found [kd2015].
Since 2001 (or earlier) AOL offers »AOL Anywhere: Send E-mail and Instant Messages and get your News, Weather, Sports, and Stocks from your cell phone, pager and handheld.« Source
Since November 2006 they offered a web search for wap sites. Source
Later they offered to a vertical mobile search for images and videos, and a news and local search. Source
»AOL has improved its mobile search capability, especially for Windows Mobile devices. Earlier I had incorrectly reported that there had been a full relaunch of its mobile portal. Only the search functionality has been improved and relaunched. There are now two types of search experiences: an enhanced Windows Mobile experience and a non-Windows Mobile version, which is also improved but with a slightly different presentation. AOL noticed that a disproportionate number of users were using Windows Mobile devices (and mobile search), so the company created an experience with horizontal tabs that dynamically change depending on the query or context of the search.« Source
